EDUCATION PROGRAM COORDINATOR

FirstWorks seeks an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about building community through the arts and who possesses superior organizational and communications skills to serve in a fulltime position as Education Program Coordinator.

Reporting to the Director of Education, the Education Program Coordinator schedules and
implements arts-learning workshops and audience engagement related activities across a variety of sites statewide. Working closely with educators, artists, youth, and community organizations, they administer all details to meet organizational objectives and ensure all participants receive exceptional programmatic experiences.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • • Implement, coordinate and track arts-learning programs
  • • Research, select, engage, and schedule schools and teachers to participate in arts-learning programs
  • • With support from the Education Director, design, implement, and track evaluation for arts learning programs
  • • Manage application processes, including registration for performances, workshops, summer camps, after-school programs, and professional development initiatives
  • • Serve as liaison for regular communication with FirstWorks’ K-12, university, and community partners
  • • With Program Director, support logistics of artist residencies, including but not limited to, artist communications, transportation, etc.
  • • Supervise technical requirements for artist residency & educational activities
  • • Collaborate with Director of Education, and Program Director as needed to develop engagement opportunities based on the season’s artistic programs
  • • Assist FirstWorks Administrative Coordinator with the coordination & distribution of free and discounted tickets to targeted school partners & non-profits
  • • Support the creation and distribution of education assets, including but not limited to, artist descriptions, Virtual Learning videos, study guides, lesson plans, performance programs, flyers, promotions, etc.
  • • Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings


Desired skills/experience:

  • • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
  • • Relevant experience in arts administration, project management, arts education, or cultural non-profits
  • • Knowledge of local community preferred
  • • Experience working with educational partners preferred
  • • Knowledge of arts-learning integration models & best practices, and RIDE common core
  • • Ability to represent the organization in conversations with educators, parents and community leaders
  • • Staff performance/event duty, as assigned (some evening and weekend events)
  • • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • • Superior organizational ability and attention to detail
  • • Welcoming presence: ability to generate enthusiasm for the organization, elicit cooperation, and get information over the phone, via email, and in person
  • • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • • Knowledge of basic performance tech preferred
  • • Knowledge of basic video editing and livestream platforms preferred
  • • Facile knowledge of software applications (i.e., word processing, spreadsheets, email, search engines, databases), familiarity with SalesForce/PatronManager, Asana a plus
  • • Reliable transportation/car preferred

Anticipated Salary: $36,000

Anticipated hire date: November/December 2021
