Africa, America and the Caribbean meet on the dance floor!

June 4, 2016, 5:45-7:00 PM*
FirstWorks Plaza Stage / Kennedy Plaza

Rocky Dawuni is a truly unique force in music: he was named one of “Africa’s Top 10 Global Stars” by CNN and was the first artist from Ghana ever nominated for a GRAMMY Award.

His signature “Afro-roots” style brings together sounds and traditions from Africa, the Caribbean, and America, incorporating reggae, Afrobeat, highlife, and soul. As much a social and cultural activist as he is musician, Dawuni is the Tourism and Cultural Ambassador of Ghana and World Ambassador for the country’s Musicians Union. He earned a 2016 GRAMMY nomination for “Best Reggae Album” with his sixth studio album, Branches from the Same Tree. He has shared the stage with superstars like Stevie Wonder, Peter Gabriel, Bono, Jason Mraz, Janelle Monae, and John Legend. Now splitting his time between Ghana and Los Angeles, Dawuni has built a following around the world with his charisma and infectious dance rhythms.
