Showcasing striking, unexpected, and groundbreaking sounds, Bixiga is a brassy afrobeat orchestra bringing together an array of beats from Brazil’s musical palette to create a high-voltage live show that is not to be missed.
Comprised of ten talented musicians, the band formed five years ago in São Paulo, Brazil. Bixiga is a neighborhood in São Paulo, and the number 70 in its name is the number of the Gadgety Studio building, where the band was born. The hands-down favorite at last winter’s globalFEST, Bixiga’s mind-blowing stew of sounds gets the crowd dancing to an eclectic music performance incorporating trumpets, saxophones, trombones, percussion, and strings. Visit a totally different continent with the band’s fusion of Latin dance, psychedelia, jazz, and African instrumental music.
