Don’t just celebrate, participate!
Providence International Arts Festival
June 13, 2015, 5 PM – Washington Street Corridor
Everyone loves a parade and the Providence International Arts Festival will host its very own, making its way from one side of Downtown into the heart of the festival at Kennedy Plaza just in time for the opening ceremonies.
Community groups, cultural organizations, artists, performers, dancers, neighbors and you are invited to join in the celebration. It’s our chance to showcase everything that makes the Creative Capital so vibrant and exciting. Add a dash of carnival flair to your festival experience by marching joyously through the streets – and be sure to wear your most colorful outfit.
The Grand Marshall for the inaugural Providence International Arts Festival Procession is Trinity Rep’s esteemed Eugene Lee. As Trinity’s resident set designer since 1967, Lee has more than earned his 2006 induction into the Theater Hall of Fame at Broadway’s Gershwin Theater. The legendary designer is a three-time Tony Award winner for Candide, Wicked and Sweeney Todd. He is also the production designer for Saturday Night Live. His work will appear at the festival in the form of the mobile wagon stage he designed for Trinity Rep, which will be used for performances at Kennedy Plaza during the celebration on Saturday, June 13.
