Showcasing the best talent
the state has to offer in classical and jazz

Providence International Arts Festival
June 13, 4:30 PM – Providence City Hall Steps

The Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra and Music School comprises several bands, dozens of concerts and an innovative music school.

It showcases the best talent the state has to offer in classical and jazz, and helps develop the next generation of ensemble players and soloists. At the Providence International Arts Festival you can experience two aspects of what makes the Philharmonic one of the finest regional orchestras in the nation: the Brass Quintet, and the Music School Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Improvisers Combo. The Rhode Island Philharmonic Brass Quintet is drawn from the orchestra’s ranks and specializes in the works of Leonard Bernstein. This summer they’ll be focusing on the beloved songs of Bernstein’s West Side Story. The Philharmonic’s Music School Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Improvisers Combo features advanced students from the jazz studies program. They’ll present selected works from the Great American Songbook at their festival appearance.
