Feel the heat of the Creative Capital
in its industrial heart during Fire Camp

An extended event of the Providence International Arts Festival, June 14, 2015, 1-6:00 PM – 27 Sims Ave.

Your parents always told you not to play with fire, but that’s exactly what happens (by trained professionals under expert supervision, of course) at the Steel Yard’s Fire Camp.

This award-winning industrial arts organization invites you to tour their grounds, where artists and craftspeople show off their skills and creativity, and get an up close look at the iron pouring process. Purchase a sand mold and scratch into it with your own design, then watch as the Steel Yard’s pros pour in molten iron and let it cool to become sculpture before your eyes. Pick up some cool stuff from their Industrial Yard Sale and enjoy snacks from local food trucks at this interactive, free and family-friendly event. It will heat up your Sunday and give you a hands-on experience with Providence’s industrial past.

Visit the pvdfestparticipate.com community portal for information and ideas about how to participate. You’ll find a call for public art, opportunities to perform, and a request for programming at local venues. Stay tuned for more details!
