Glorious Visions in Animation

Update: March 25 performance at Providence College
has been postponed – rescheduled date TBA

“Magical… the sheer breadth of the imagery is unlike anything you’ve seen before.” –Los Angeles Times

Using animation, projections, and her own moving shadow, acclaimed multimedia performance artist Miwa Matreyek weaves fantastical narratives that leave audiences spellbound. Her cinematic visuals traverse natural vistas, cityscapes and domestic spaces to conjure dreamlike scenes and a childlike sense of wonderment. “Glorious Visions in Animation” features two visually extraordinary pieces: Matreyek’s newest work, “Infinitely Yours,” which explores the web of intricate connections between humans and climate change, and “This World Made Itself,” a journey from Earth’s epic beginnings to today’s fast-paced, human world. Matreyek’s work lives whimsically at the tipping point between the animated and the theatrical, the imagined and the poignantly real.
