ABOUT PVDFEST

Marking its third year, Providence’s signature cultural celebration showcases the diversity and vibrancy of the Creative Capital through art installations, live music and dance, food, and much, much more…

BANDALOOP

BANDALOOP #PVDPublicCanvas

While artists and musicians transform Kennedy Plaza into a world-class festival, BANDALOOP will transform the sky above it into an awe-inspiring aerial performance.

CHRISTOPHER JOHNSON

CHRISTOPHER JOHNSON

Christopher’s performance history with FirstWorks dates back to its first street festival in 2004. At this year’s festival he will assemble talent from across the Creative Capital to collaborate with aerial dance troupe BANDALOOP on #PVDPublicCanvas, a community-driven performance.

DBR EN MASSE

DANIEL BERNARD ROUMAIN
En Masse

After a show-stopping collaboration with local student musicians at last year’s PVDFest, the Haitian born, Harlem-based composer/violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain (aka DBR) returns for a massive musical spectacle in the shadow of the West Side’s iconic Cranston Street Armory.

LAS CAFETERAS

LAS CAFETERAS

If Mexican folk music and pounding Afro-Caribbean rhythms met on the streets of East Los Angeles, what would happen? The answer is Las Cafeteras, one of the hottest young bands in alternative Latin music.

ETIENNE CHARLES

ETIENNE CHARLES

This young jazz master from Trinidad defies easy categorization – a student of pan-Caribbean music, as fluent in the horn riffs of New Orleans brass as he is the Spanish rhythms of the islands.

Doppelganger Dance Collective

DOPPELGÄNGER DANCE COLLECTIVE

Two is better than one when Rhode Island’s own Doppelgänger Dance Collective (DDC) takes the stage. Co-founding dancers Shura Baryshnikov and Danielle Davidson were drawn together to foster the creation and performance of original, contemporary choreographic work for duet.
