Downtown Providence – 10 Dorrance Street
“They dance in the air, using thrill and wonder and metaphor to amplify feeling”
While artists and musicians transform Kennedy Plaza into a world-class festival, BANDALOOP will transform the sky above it into an awe-inspiring vertical performance. Choreographed by Artistic Director Amelia Rudolph in collaboration with the dancers, vertical dance pioneers BANDALOOP will use the façade of a downtown skyscraper as their stage and dance floor, with dancers flying through the air high above the crowds. This collaboration with local spoken word artist Christopher Johnson will incorporate live music and poetry crowd-sourced from the rich talents of the Creative Capital. BANDALOOP stunned crowds at FirstWorks Festival on the Plaza in 2012 and they return with a new work that draws inspiration from the incredible creative tapestry of Providence. BANDALOOP’s perspective-bending dance has soared across the skyline in locations ranging from the Kennedy Center to the Sierra Nevada mountains to an office tower in Seoul, Korea.
