Paul Taylor is one of the dance world’s most elusive and respected choreographers. This film is an unprecedented exploration of how Mr. Taylor creates a single dance, and between the guarded and unguarded moments, the viewer is witness to a mysterious work ethic that has created some of the most iconic modern dances of our time.

Art historian Dr. Robert S. Mattison highlights Rauschenberg’s powerful and long-held interest in dance and performance in a conversation capped by a performance of Tracer, an early collaboration between choreographer Paul Taylor and visual artist Robert Rauschenberg.

This is a unique opportunity for Rhode Island-area dancers to take a master class with Ruth Andrien, who originated roles as former principal Taylor dancer, and has restaged Mr. Taylor’s work around the world. $5 advance/$10 door

Film screening of the Academy Award nominated 1998 documentary – a vivid group portrait of the iconic choreographer Paul Taylor and his uniquely American dance company.

In this illustrated lecture, Taylor’s biographer Suzanne Carbonneau will look at how Taylor’s dances have chronicled both shining ideals and uncomfortable truths about America. Lunch will be served.
