A semester-long enrichment program for RI high school students as part of RIDE’s All Course Network initiative. Behind the Curtain is a virtual afterschool program that connects RI students grades 9-12 with artists, nonprofit and production professionals.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP HIGHLIGHTS

In April 2020, FirstWorks hosted a live Professional Development Workshop via Zoom with composer, violinist, educator, and activist Dr. Daniel Bernard Roumain for 40 local K-12 educators and artists titled “Teaching Tolerance with Music.” DBR was joined by esteemed artist-educators Liz Lerman and Michael Rohd.

Co-presented by FirstWorks and Roger Williams Park Conservancy. Our pop-up Global Journeys fall concert series featured a spirit-lifting line-up in a gorgeous outdoor setting. Park visitors enjoyed weekly live arts experiences spanning a world of styles, from salsa and French Cajun to West African kora and indigenous jazz.
