A participatory interactive art experience

June 9, 2018 – 8:30, 9:30 & 10:30 PM
101 Washington Street, Downtown Providence*

One of this year’s most dazzling signature PVDFest spectacles will be The Umbrella Project. For three evening performances on Saturday, June 9, festival-goers of all ages are invited to join a large-scale participatory live-art experiment and light up the night sky.

Devised by movement illusionists, Pilobolus, in collaboration with the MIT Computer Lab, participants wield lighted umbrellas to create a color-changing landscape of images that are projected in real time on a giant screen. It’s a moving demonstration of the power of groups to be greater than the sum of their parts. Audience members unleash their inner artists to experience and help create brilliantly illuminated magic.
